Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Hosts Southeast Regional, Gets First Round Bye

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Team earned the No. 2 seed for just the second time in program history and will host the winner of 7-seed Wingate and 10-seed Converse on Sunday at 1 p.m.. The Bulldogs and Valkyries will play at Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The only other time LR was as high as the 2-seed was back in 2006 when they went 19-1-1 and defeated Catawba in the first round before falling in penalty kicks to Lincoln Memorial in the second round. The Bears were the 6-seed in 2016, the 5-seed in 2017 and the 9-seed last year. This also marks the first time in program history that LR has advanced to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments.

LR earned the berth thanks to its first SAC Tournament title since that 2006 season. Carles Montoliu Lobo was named SAC Tournament MVP as the Bears dispatched of Catawba, Wingate and Lincoln Memorial.
