The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Golf Team finished in 16th place at the Hurricane Invitational, shooting a combined team score of 902 (+38) over the three rounds.

The Bears wrapped the tournament up on a high note with their first sub-300 team score during the final round on Tuesday; a 292 (+4) mark.

Sean Finan ended with the best 54-hole score of the five LR participants, shooting a 223 (+7) result which was good enough for a Top 50 finish in the event.

Other Bears also shot their best rounds of the week on the final day, including Sam Mace and Liam Waldron who both shot a 73 (+1) with Jack Alward finishing with a 74 (+2).

The first two rounds were rough on the Bears, shooting a tournament-low team score of 610 (+34) after the first day. As a team, the Bears had a pair of 300-plus stroke rounds, shooting slightly better in the first round with a 303 (+15) compared to their 307 (+19) score in the second round.

Holt Allison was the bright spot on the squad during the first day as he shot the team-best combined score of 150 (+6) through the first 36 holes.

The sophomore started off his tournament with a 73 (+1) score through his first 18 holes of the tournament which included a 34 (-2) score in the Front 9. He followed up that performance with a 77 (+5) score in the second round of the day.

Thanks to their 850 (-14) team performance, North Georgia was able to take home the tournament title, winning by five strokes over Nova Southeastern. The hosts, Georgia Southwestern, finished in third place with an 856 (-8) score; the Hurricanes shot a third round-best 278 (-10) on the final day.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Golf Team will return next week for the Lander Bearcat Classic in Greenwood, S.C. The two-day event will begin on Monday, March 6.
