Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Golf Team Tied For Lead After Day One of SAC Championship

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Golf team is in a tie for first place with Coker after the first day of the 2024 SAC Championship hosted by Newberry. The three day event is taking place at the Country Club of Orangebury. Each team will play one round a day as the Bears opened the tournament with a team score of 288 (+8).

On the individual side, the Bears had three golfers in the top five as Sean Finan and Mads Emil Boas each shot an even par 70 to be in a tie for third place and two shots off the lead. Holt Allison is one shot behind the duo as he shot a 71 and it currently in a tie for 5th place.

Jake Moore is in 36th place after a round of 77 while Matthew McDougall rounded out the Bears scoring with a 79 and is currently in a tie for 49. The top four scores for each team count for the team score of 288 for the Bears.

Bears and the Cobras are in a tie while Wingate is one shot behind in second place while Anderson and Carson-Newman is one shot behind the Bulldogs. So the top five teams are separated by five strokes.

Bears had 14 birdies on the day lead by four from Boas and three each from Finan, Moore and Allison.

Round two tees off at 8:30am but the Bears are in the last five groups of the day so McDougall will tee off with his group at 11:50 am while the rest of the Bears will tee off every ten minutes later until Finan tees off in the last group at 12:30pm
