Lenoir-Rhyne men’s golf finished tied for 12th and Cole Sutherland grabbed his second straight top-10 finish at the Tennessee River Rumble Invitational hosted by Lincoln Memorial. The host Railsplitters were the champion. Sutherland tied for 6th, which is an improvement from his 8th place finish at the Bears’ previous competition.
Sutherland shot a first round 74, and then bounced back to be at or under par in his final two rounds, firing a 68 and 71. Sutherland has the 7th-best score on Par 5s in the tournament (-4), and also made the third-most birdies in the field with 15.
Matthew Raybould had one of the lowest rounds of the tournament with a 67 in round one, and ended up finishing tied for 21st. Liam Waldron steaily improved his score across the three rounds, shooting 74 in the final round to tie for 67th. After back-to-back 81s to start his tournament, Dawson Walker shot 75 in the third round to tie for 87th, and Georg Hartmann also shot by far his best round of the tournament in the final round with a 74 to finish tied for 96th.
This was the final tune-up for the Bears before the SAC Championship starts on April 10 at Graysburg Hills Country Club in Chuckey, Tenn.
