Lenoir-Rhyne men’s golf moved up two spots and finished 18th at the Mizuno Intercollegiate at Chattahooche Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga. As a team, the Bears shot 903 (+39) and finished one stroke behind Wingate after gaining eight shots on the Bulldogs on the final day. Anderson edged out West Florida for the team title.
On day one, Liam Waldron shot a five-over 149 for the day, followed by Allison with a 151. Sam Mace and Matthew Raybould both shot 153, and Sean Finan fired a 156. Each player on the LR team was at least five shots better in the second round than they were in the first.
The third and final round on Tuesday was a much better showing for the Bears. Finan shot a two-under 70, which was tied for the third-lowest score of the day in the entire field. Waldron and Mace shot 76 on day two, Raybould shot 75, and Allison shot 79.
The Bears are in action again next week when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. for the Jay Jenison cup next Monday and Tuesday.
