Lenoir-Rhyne University has announced the hiring of Dani Nicosia to the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Digital and Creative Media. Nicosia comes to Lenoir-Rhyne after spending the past year-and-a-half as the Athletics Communication Coordinator at Charlotte Country Day School.
“Lenoir-Rhyne has a proven track record of success on and off the field and I am excited about the opportunity to work with such a strong staff,” said Nicosia. “I want to thank Jeremy Zalacca for bringing me on board and giving me the chance to promote Lenoir-Rhyne and its outstanding student-athletes.”
At Country Day, Nicosia oversaw all social media content distribution and created all digital video content for the athletic teams’ social media platforms. Nicosia also created graphics, posters and game programs while serving as the photographer at the school. Additionally, she oversaw and ran the department’s live broadcast of athletic contests, something that had never been done in the school’s history before her arrival.
Prior to her time at Country Day, Nicosia served as a Graduate Assistant at Queens University and created video and creative content for social media, video boards and the campus. She ran the department’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages and supervised the student workers. On top of that, Nicosia served as the department photographer, shooting headshots, posed photos, team pictures and in-game action photos. Additionally, Nicosia ran all in-game promotions.
Nicosia also has spent some time assisting with live game stats with the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse.
As an undergrad at Queens, Nicosia worked in the Athletic Communications Department as a videographer as well as assisting in post-game media interviews and ran all in-game promotions. She also was a member of the Queens women’s soccer team.
“I couldn’t be more excited to add Dani to our team,” said Associate AD for Athletic Communications. “She has a wide array of talents which matched what we were looking for in this position and also has extensive knowledge of the conference. I am confident that her drive and skill set will continue to elevate our creative content.”
Nicosia graduated with a Bachelor’s in Sport Management in 2017. Nicosia earned her Master’s in Communication from Queens in 2019.
