Lenoir-Rhyne Football Receives a Pair of All-Americans

Lenoir-Rhyne’s DeAree Rogers and Jon Ross Maye have been named All-Americans by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association. Rogers was named a First Team All-American return specialist and Maye a Second Team linebacker. These two bring the all-time count of All-Americans produced by LR Football to 93.

Rogers, a redshirt freshman from Lexington, S.C., made a huge impact in his first year with the Bears. Rogers broke Kyle Dugger’s single season record for most punt returns for a touchdown with three and also tied Dugger’s record of two punt returns for touchdowns in the same game. Rogers’ 357 punt return yards this season rank as the third-most in a single season in program history behind Dugger (534) and Michael Green (432). On top of his returning prowess, Rogers was the LR leader in receptions (53) and receiving yards (690) while adding six touchdown grabs.

Maye earns his first career All-American nod as the junior from Johns Creek, Ga. became the first Bear since 2018 to top 100 tackles in a single season. Maye finished with 116 tackles and added 15.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. The 116 tackles are the most by an LR player since 2013 when Tanner Botts had 134 and he keyed a defense that finished seventh in the nation in points allowed per game.

The duo helped LR to a Divisional, Conference and Regional Championship in 2023 and a spot in the National Semifinal.
