Lenoir-Rhyne Finish Second at SAC Championship, Best Finish in Nearly Two Decades

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Golf Team recorded its highest finish in the SAC Men’s Golf Championship since 2006 with a runner-up finish, ending the tournament with an 868 (+4) total.

Seniors Jack Alward (-1) and Liam Waldron (+2) both earned spots on the All-Tournament Team with their seventh and tenth place finishes, respectively.

Alward closed out his tournament with a 72 (E) score after a performance that consisted of three birdies and three bogeys.

For Waldron, the Aberdeen, Scotland native, he finished with a 78 (+6) score and was able to hold onto his high rank on the leader board.

Holt Allison’s tournament ended on a high note as he shot his best round of the week with a 70 (-2) mark. The sophomore recorded the best LR round on Tuesday and only suffered one bogey through the course.

Rounding out the Bears performance were two more freshmen golfers in Sean Finan and Sam Mace. The pair of North Carolina natives each finished the event with a 223 (+7) week tally and a 76 (+4) third-round result.

Anderson (S.C.) ended up coming out on top in the tournament with an 845 (-19) total, leading the event from wire to wire. The Trojans earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
