Lenoir-Rhyne Earns Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Melody Jones was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Holly Kone was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the sixth week of the outdoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Jones, a sophomore sprinter from Chicago, Ill., posted an NCAA provisional time and took home second place in the 100-meter hurdles last week at the LR Bears Open. Her time of 13.68 seconds places her in the top-10 in NCAA Division II this season.
Kone, a junior jumper from Nottingham, England, posted the top mark in the SAC for the triple jump this season at the LR Bears Open. Her leap of 12.10 meters won the event and earned her an NCAA provisional mark.
