Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country Teams Compete at JW Classic Wildcat Invite

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Cross Country Team had a trio of runners race at the JW Classic Friday night in Charlotte. Alexis Taylor finished top-20 for the Bears as Lenoir-Rhyne are now preparing for the SAC Championship on November 5th.

Taylor finished 20th out of 71 racers with a time of 21.05 as the junior from Fleming Island, Florida had her best time of the year. Taylor time of 21:05 was over ninety seconds faster than her previous best time this year.

Macy Landis finished nine spots behind Taylor with a time of 22:21. Landis completing in her second ever race as a Bear finished fifty seconds faster than in her first race on October 7th.

Rebecca Fox was the third Bear to finish on Friday. Fox had a time of 23.41 also improving her time from the Royals Challenge earlier this month.

On the men’s side, and for the second time this year, Jacob Parkinson crossed the finish line first for the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Cross Country Team. Parkinson’s time of 24:53 is the third-best time in program history and the second-fastest individual. Jacob Black ran 24:33 at the same course in 2017 and also ran a 24:52 later that year.

Lewis Budgen finished second for the Bears at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.

After Parkinson and Budgen finished, Appalachian State had the next four racers finish to help them secure the team title. The Bears finished second as a team with Lees-McRae finishing third and SAC-foe Emory & Henry finishing fourth in the ten team field.

Noah Julian got a 10th place finish with a time of 26:30 while Jon Lakeman came in 12th (26.43) and Harrison Hickman was the fifth Bear to finish in 17th place.

Parkinson’s time of 24:53 was his fastest time of the season as the sophomore ran a 25:26 when he won the Queen City Invite on September 23rd. Budgen also has a season best time today as the sophomore finished ten seconds behind Parkinson.

The Bears will now turn their attention to the SAC Championship that takes place on November 5th in Salisbury, N.C.
