Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country Team Compete at Southeast Preview

Sophomore Sabrina Fleig defeated Anderson’s Kennedy Roush by less then a second to win the SE Region Preview hosted by North Georgia University. The 6k’s race today was a preview of the Southeast Regional Championship in just 35 days on November 4th.

Even through Fleig won the individual title, Anderson won the team title as the Bears finished second with a score of 54 while the Trojans had a score of 31.

LR had two more top ten finishes on Saturday as Paige Ewald finished in 9th and Elizabeth Kessler finished in 10th place about 3 1/2 seconds behind Kessler. In addition, all five Bears scorers finished in the top 20 as Eliska Rihova finished in 14th place while Teresa Vesely came in 20th place.

The Bears will head to Charlotte for the Royal Challenge next Friday.

Meanwhile, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Cross Country Team had three top-ten finishers on Saturday morning at the SE Region Preview hosted by North Georgia. Bears were lead by Junior Lewis Budgen, who finished runner-up with a time of 25:13. Budgen was fourteen seconds behind Logan Zuchelli of Concord.

Behind Budgen, Bastian Luthman finished sixth with a time of 25:44 while Jacob Parkinson finished in 9th just five seconds after Luthman to give the Bears three top ten finishers out of the 75 racers in today’s 8k race.

Overall, the Bears finished in third place behind Anderson and Concord as LR had a team score of 80 with a team time of 2:12.19.

Garrison Fisher (28th place) and Greg Grasso (35th) rounded out the top five scorers for the Bears as the race today was a preview of the November 4th Southeast Regional Championship.
