Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics to Hold Paint the Town Red Campaign

Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics announces its Paint the Town Red campaign to spread Bear pride and LR spirit throughout the Unifour area in support of Hickory’s hometown team. This will be the first Paint the Town Red campaign since the initial launch in 2019.

In partnership with the City of Hickory, LR will host a Paint the Town Red Pep Rally on Friday, September 1st at 6:15 PM in downtown Union Square. On Saturday, the 2nd, fans are invited to wear red to the football game against St. Augustine’s as the Bears kick off the 104th year of football at LR. The game will kick off at 6 PM and will end with a fireworks show.

In addition to the Pep Rally, there will be an LR storefront decorating contest for businesses and a yard decorating contest for households beginning on Monday, August 28th to kick off game week. Community members (corporate partners and individuals) will compete by decorating their storefront, house or yard to show their support for LR Athletics. Participants will receive a free yard sign and schedule poster upon signing up. Those with the top displays will be recognized and awarded prizes each week. To be eligible pictures of displays must be posted to either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and tag LR Bears athletic account. This contest will be live each of the five home weeks of the schedule this season.

Paint the Town Red items can be picked up at the 828 Day celebration at Moretz Stadium on Saturday, August 26.
