Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics Inducts 55 to Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society
A total of 55 student-athletes from Lenoir-Rhyne University were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society Wednesdayevening during an event coordinated by the chapter advisor and women’s lacrosse coach Carlee Buck. In addition to the new inductees, 60 senior student-athletes were recognized for receiving their honor cords. In total, every sport at Lenoir-Rhyne was recognized in one of the two groups, a first in department history.
Additionally, long-time Faculty Athletics Representative Amy Wood was honored for her service in the role since 2008 as this will be her final year in that position.
Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society honors those collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition, and who have received a varsity letter in their respective sport or sports, while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA with junior academic status. The governing board represents all levels of competition in the NCAA and NAIA. Chi Alpha Sigma is the first national scholar-athlete honor society and along with recognizing outstanding academic achievement, the purpose is to encourage good citizenship, moral character, and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics and to mentor and provide leadership to other athletes.
