Lenoir Man Charged in Boone with Going Armed to the Terror of the Public
59-year-old Peter Modiene Gabaree of Lenoir has been arrested by Boone Police on charges of going armed to the terror of the public and resisting officers.
Just after 12:30 a.m. yesterday (November 7), Watauga County Emergency Communications took a call regarding a man brandishing a firearm outside the Boone Saloon on West King Street in Boone. When Officers arrived, they found a man wearing a tactical-style vest and carrying a shotgun. Officers gained control of the man and took him into custody.
An investigation revealed that the man, Peter Modiene Gabaree, had earlier been in the Boone Saloon when he was asked to leave the establishment. Once outside, Gabaree went to his vehicle and donned a tactical vest and retrieved a shotgun, a handgun, and ammunition for both weapons. Passersby immediately called 9-1-1.
Gabaree was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was set for December 20 in Boone.
