LENOIR, N.C. (WHKY) – A Lenoir man is facing felony child abuse and misdemeanor assault charges following his arrest Wednesday, August 19.

According to Lenoir Police, 40-year-old Giovanni Gomez Lopez, of Northwest Gabriel Lane in Lenoir, was charged with felony child abuse resulting in serious physical injury and misdemeanor assault and battery.

According to court records, Lopez allegedly struck his 13-year-old child in the mouth. Court records state the child lost consciousness. Lopez was jailed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under $75,000 secured bond. A court date is scheduled for Monday (August 24).
