Lenoir City Council Hears Presentation On Comprehensive Plan Meetings

Lenoir City Council met in regular session earlier this week. At the Tuesday (June 18) meeting Council heard a presentation from Planning Director Hannah Williams regarding the city’s comprehensive plan. She outlined the upcoming schedule of meetings, all scheduled next week.

The kickoff meetings will be held Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. Whitnel will host a neighborhood workshop Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Whitnel Elementary School library media center. The meeting is for Whitnel residents to discuss future land use in the area.

There will be a West End neighborhood workshop happening at the same time at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. This meeting is for West End residents interested in community development in that neighborhood and future land use city wide. On Wednesday there will be a community open house at the Blue Ridge Energy District Office meeting room on Cooperative Way. The drop-in style meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.

In other action Tuesday, Lenoir City Council approved the consent agenda, which included multiple budget amendments, a capital project budget ordinance, and a paving bid award.

City Manager Scott Hildebran outlined upcoming events including downtown summer concerts, the city’s fireworks display July 4th, and the North Carolina Blackberry Festival July 12 & 13 in downtown Lenoir.
