CATAWBA, N.C. — Ever wanted to learn a new skill while creating something you can take home? The Historical Association of Catawba County is offering a hands-on Market Basket Weaving Class later this month at Murray’s Mill.

The class will be held Saturday, July 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Murray’s Mill, located at 1489 Murray’s Mill Road in Catawba. Participants will learn the traditional art of weaving a market basket under the instruction of heritage craft teacher Nancy Duffie, who has taught classes throughout North Carolina.

Organizers say the workshop is designed for beginners and experienced crafters alike, giving participants the opportunity to create their own handcrafted market basket while learning a traditional skill. The class is expected to last about three hours to allow plenty of hands-on instruction.

Registration is $50 per person, and space is limited. Advance registration is required by July 15.
