From May 20 to May 22, 2023 The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team assisted the City of Cherryville and Gaston County Emergency Management with aerial mapping after the recent storm that damaged the area.

The Lincoln County Drone Team used multiple drones to survey approximately 2,000 acres in the area of storm damage.

Officials will use the drone overviews and compare the extent of damage to previous maps. The storm hit the Cherryville and Gaston County area on May 16, 2023.
