L-R’s Wadsworth in Third at NCAA D2 Heptathlon Championship

After the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, sophomore Jacob Wadsworth sits in third place in the Men’s Heptathlon.

Wadsworth started off the event strong, taking home a second-place finish in the 60m dash. Wadsworth’s time of 6.99 trailed only Tanner Raubenstine of Emporia State who finished at 6.95. Wadsworth continued his strong showing in the long jump with a leap of 6.96, placing him in third in that event. In the shot put, Wadsworth’s toss of 9.54 grabbed him a seventh-place finish but he rebounded with a strong effort in the high jump. Wadsworth’s leap of 2.00 was the second-best number in the event.

The Heptathlon concludes tomorrow with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m. Wadsworth is also part of the relay team that qualified for the national meet.
