L-R’s Brown Named SAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Alexis Brown has been named the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced recently .
Brown, a freshman from Mableton, Ga., earns her second SAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year Award for 2023, having won the Women’s Indoor award earlier this year. She was the SAC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year, as well as the 2023 SAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet at the 2023 SAC Outdoor Championship.
She was named the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year after a pair of top-five finishes at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100-meter dash (second) and the 200-meter dash (fifth). She turned in the 11th-fastest performances in NCAA Division II history in the 100-meter (11.34 seconds) and the 200-meter (23.11 seconds) this season.
The SAC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year award is determined following the completion of the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship and is voted on by the league’s head coaches.
