Lenoir-Rhyne’s Morgan Beeler was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week eight of the 2023 season, the Conference office announced today.

Beeler, a senior pitcher from Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., went 2-0 in the circle this week with two complete games. She threw her third shutout in the last 14 days as the senior allowed three hits and struck out seven in game one versus Coker on Thursday. Beeler struck out 20 in just 13 2/3 innings, leading the SAC in strikeouts with 124, and recorded a 1.02 ERA on the week.

Coming into the season, Beeler had only won SAC Pitcher of the Week two times in her career. Now over the span of three weeks, the senior has garnered the award on three separate occasions. It is the fourth time this season that a LR pitcher earned the award as Lauren Rakes took the honor in the first week.
