Kara Gavaghan’s late header in OT propeled the Bears over Catawba 1-0 on Thursday evening.
Catawba led LR 5-2 in shots in the first half and Catawba earned more corners than LR 10-2. However, the Bears outshot the Indians 14-9 in the match and Bears goalkeeper and Hickory High grad Grayson Cameron collected three saves on the match.
Cameron earned her fourth clean sheet of the season.
Gavaghan would score the lone goal of the contest on a header in the 96′ off an assist from Stephanie Figueiredo. Gavaghan now has the most points of any freshman this season with 9.
LR has now snapped the two game losing streak on the road at Catawba.
