L-R Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Virginia-Wise

UVA Wise scored six of the first seven goals against Lenoir-Rhyne and never looked back in a 15-6 victory on Wednesday. Jolan Morey scored a career-high two goals on three shots in the loss.

Four different players notched a hat trick for the Cavs and Jesse French had five assists to go with her three goals.

Cathleen Gaffney, Makenna Filley, Michelle Tang and Carley Camp joined Morey in the goal-scoring column with one goal each. Frances Williams had a team-high six ground balls and also led the Bears with four draw controls.

Defensively, Isabelle Dunnam had four caused turnovers for the Bears. UVA Wise held a 33-15 advantage in shots and 24-10 edge in shots on goal.

This was the fourth time this season that LR has been held to single-digit goals in a game.

With the loss in the regular season road finale, the Bears fall to 4-6 overall, 3-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. Lenoir-Rhyne will return to action on Saturday when they host Mars Hill at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
