L-R Women’s Lacrosse Falls to 10th Ranked Wingate
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Team dropped an 18-5 decision to Wingate in South Atlantic Conference at Moretz Stadium on Wednesday night. Jolan Morey scored two goals while Teanna Sieben had 15 saves in goal for the Bears. LR will look to rebound with a trip to Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.
After Wingate scored the opening goal, the Bears scored three straight and took a 3-2 lead after the first period. The second quarter was all Wingate as the Bulldogs scored all eight goals in the period and opened a seven-goal lead.
LR got a third quarter goal from Jolan Morey but Wingate extended their lead to 15-4 heading into their final quarter. Rylie McGhan got the Bears on the board in the fourth but LR could not muster any scoring streaks as Wingate cruised to an 18-5 victory.
Sieben made 15 saves in goal for the Bears. Sieben has 29 saves in the last two games. Morey was the only Bear to find the back of the net twice on the afternoon.
Bears finished March with a 3-4 record, which moves them to 53-42 all-time in the month of March. After losing the first seven games, Wingate has now won three in a row against the Bears.
Sieben crossed the 100 save mark this season with her 15 stops. The Bears move to 3-5 at Moretz Stadium this year, LR has three home dates remaining starting with Mount Olive on Wednesday April 5th.
