L-R Women’s Golf Opens Season in South Carolina

In their first event of the 2022-23 school year, Lenoir-Rhyne women’s golf moved up four spots on the second and final day at the Savannah Lakes Invite to grab a fourth place finish in the 16-team field. The Bears shot an even 600 as a team. Host Lander took home the team title with a 590 at the Monticello Golf Course in McCormick, SC.

LR had two individuals finish in the top-10 of the field, with freshman Amelia Rae Greenlee finishing tied for 4th in her first event as a Bear, and Beatriz Espelosin finishing tied for 9th after a second round score of 74 (+2). Greenlee shot a final round 71 (-1), tied for the second-best score in the entire field on Tuesday. She finished just two shots off of the individual champion.

Following up Greenlee and Espelosin was Patricia Asensio tying for 19th, after shooting 150 (+6) over the two rounds. Marta Escudero shot 157 (+13) in her first event as a Bear, and Katie Sibley shot 162 (+18) to round out the Bear effort.

The Bears will take next week off, and then return to action on October 3 for the Patsy Rendelmen Invitational.
