L-R Women’s Golf Finish Tied for 13th at Low Tide Intercollegiate
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Team finished tied for 13th place at the Low Tide Intercollegiate, shooting a combined team score of 958 (+94) over the three rounds.
Overall, the entire field had a rough day out on the course with most programs shooting their worst 18-hole scores of the tournament. That included LR who shot a 328 (+40) team score on the event’s final day. All five Bears shot scores of 80 or higher as they battled the windy conditions all morning long.
Marta Escudero had a great start to the week, finishing tied for 10th place on the individual leaderboard with her 149 (+5) score through the first day.
The freshman ended the competition with an 81 (+9) round, which was still one of the best scores of the day for the Bears, but her performance dropped her down a few spots down the individual leaderboard for a tie in 31st place.
This result will hurt for LR as it matches the worst tournament finish of the season, dating back to the fall stretch with a 13th-place finish in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial.
Anderson, who had the massive lead through the first two rounds of the tournament, was able to convincingly hold off the rest of the field to win the event. Their 867 (+3) tournament score was 29 strokes better than the runner-up and hosts, Limestone.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Team will have spring break off as they return on Monday, March 13 for the Converse Spring Invite in Spartanburg, S.C.
