The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team came up short in a 3-0 loss at Newberry on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Bears drop under .500 on the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne was held to a .178 hitting percentage, while the Wolves hit .259 as a squad including a .405 clip in the first set.
Newberry had 11 service aces in the contest and held the Bears to just two.
Rachel Bewick led Lenoir-Rhyne with 13 digs. Parkley Hennings and Rachel Delcamp also finished in double figures with 10 kills each.
Braelyn Faust had eight kills and Taylor Walton had seven. Watlon has 17 kills in her two matches played and is second on the squad with 2.83 kills/set. Colette Romp added six in the balanced Bear attack.
Helen Hamilton dished out 13 assists.
Taylor Hall led Newberry with 12 kills and Avery Webb had 32 assists.
All five matches for Lenoir-Rhyne this season have been decided by a 3-0 final score. This match is just the second road match of the season for LR. After two more at home, the Bears will play five of the first seven matches at home.
The 11 service aces allowed by the Bears are the most in a match this season. The previous high was five against Mars Hill on 2/26.
The Bears are 2-3 overall and in the South Atlantic Conference. L-R hosts Carson-Newman a week from Friday at 7pm.
