After finishing in second place at the 2023 SAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships, 10 members of the Lenoir-Rhyne team were announced to the 2023 USTFCCCA All-Region Team.
Jacob Wadsworth led the way by being named to the team in five different events: 4×400-meter relay, 200-meter dash, 400-meter run, long jump, and heptathlon.
The SAC Track and Field Athlete of the meet was the winner of three separate events, including the 4×400-meter relay. In addition to Wadsworth, John Sisson, Dario Matau and Lucas Besong all made the All-Region Team as well.
The Dansville, N.Y. native also won the 400-meter race and long jump event at the conference championships. He took a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, but did not participate in the heptathlon event two weekends ago in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Although being named to the All-Region Team due to his contributions in the 4×400-meter relay, Matau was also listed as a member of the team based on his performances in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes.
The sophomore took first place in the 200-meter dash while just falling short in the 60-meter sprint for the second-place finish.
Another member of the Bears who competed in those events and got named to the All-Region Team was Trent Davis II. The junior took a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter race.
