L-R Sweeps SAC Field Athlete of the Week Honors
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jacob Wadsworth and Kennedy Conner were named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men’s and Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the seventh week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Wadsworth, a senior from Dansville, N.Y., won the men’s heptathlon and set a new program record with 5,423 points at the Division II Pre-National Meet over the weekend. Wadsworth also established a new Lenoir-Rhyne record in the long jump with a leap of 7.22 meters.
Conner, a senior from Franklin, N.C., posted an NCAA provisional mark and set a new Lenoir-Rhyne record in the women’s pentathlon at the Division II Pre-National Meet. She scored 3,297 points finishing first in the 60-meter hurdles, the long jump, and the high jump.
It is the first time this season that both Wadsworth and Conner have taken home the reward as well as the first time that a Bear has received the honor in 2022-23.
Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s and Women’s Track and Field will return to action on Friday, Feb. 17 when they head back to Columbia, S.C. for the USC Indoor Open.
