L-R Men’s Tennis Falls to North Carolina A&T
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis Team took part in a unique non-conference match against a Division One opponent, North Carolina A&T, on Tuesday. However, the Bears fell 6-1.
The match started off great for the Bears; they were able to capture the doubles point after Doubles No. 1 and No. 3 were able to pull out 6-1 and 6-2 victories, respectively.
Singles was a different story for the Bears though as the Aggies did not drop a single set in all six matches; the closest any Bear came to winning a set was a couple 3-6 sets from Patrik Alvestrand and a single set from Joel Hemmings by the same score. And with the sweep in the singles, the Aggies went on to win the match, 6-1.
In the second all-time meeting between the two schools, the Aggies moved to 2-0 over the Bears after taking last year’s meeting, a 4-2 decision, in Hickory, N.C.
Up next for the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis Team is a return to SAC play as they will face Emory & Henry for the first time as conference opponents.
Due to impending weather conditions, the match against the Wasps has been moved up to Wednesday, March 1 at 1 p.m. at the YMCA of Catawba Valley. With the change, it will be the Bears’ third match in four days.
