L-R Earns Pair of SAC Indoor Track Athletes of the Week
For the second straight week, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Alexis Brown was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Brown, a freshman sprinter from Austell, Ga., posted a pair of NCAA provisional times in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Bast-Gregger Invitational. In addition to posting provisional times, Brown also broke two program records, winning the 60m in 7.35 seconds and winning the 200m in 24.85 seconds.
In addition, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Dario Matau was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today.
Matau, a sophomore sprinter from Sandton, South Africa, took home first place honors in the 200-meter and 60-meter dashes at the Bast-Cregger Invitational last week. He posted NCAA provisional times in both races, winning the 200m with a time of 21.75 seconds and he won the 60m with a time of 6.82 seconds. Matau was also part of the 4×400-meter relay team that posted an NCAA provisional time of 3:21.06.
