STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY)  — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office will auction a stray horse next week after it was not claimed by an owner.

The sheriff’s office says a sorrel mare was found in the 300 block of Mock Mill Road in Statesville. The horse will be auctioned at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Iredell County Animal Services building on Bristol Drive in Statesville.

Officials describe the mare as having a full white marking on the right hind leg, a sock on the left hind leg and distinctive star, strip and snip facial markings.
