Iredell Schools Seek $3 Million In Lottery Funds For Stadium
STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) — Iredell County commissioners will consider a request to use $3 million in lottery proceeds for South Iredell High School stadium improvements.
Mark Shinkaruk, chief operations officer for Iredell-Statesville Schools, is scheduled to present the funding request October 6.
The project totals $4,409,515, with the remaining cost to be paid from capital funds. Planned improvements include synthetic turf, a six-lane track, LED lighting, accessible visitor bleachers and a new retaining wall to replace a failing wall.
The school board approved the project April 13. The pending county action concerns the lottery funding, rather than initial approval of the renovation.
The commissioners’ meeting begins at 6 p.m. at N.C. Cooperative Extension, 444 Bristol Drive, Statesville. A pre-agenda meeting begins at 4 p.m.
