Iredell County deputies say a traffic stop in Statesville led to the arrest of a Mooresville man on drug charges.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop June 3 on a 2012 Toyota at the intersection of Salisbury Highway and Third Creek Road.

Investigators say deputies found two pipes commonly used to smoke methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A more thorough search allegedly uncovered approximately 5.58 grams of methamphetamine in the possession of Vincent Cornelius Jones, 44, of Mooresville.

Jones was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where a magistrate found probable cause for the charges.

Authorities say Jones received a $10,000 secured bond.

The sheriff’s office also noted that Jones was already on probation for felony drug offenses at the time of his arrest. Records included in the release show a lengthy criminal history involving drug, assault, larceny and traffic-related offenses.

The driver and another passenger were each issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia.
