Iredell Commissioners To Consider School Intervention Staffing
STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY) — Iredell County commissioners will consider six new positions for a school-based early intervention program funded with opioid settlement money.
Deputy County Manager Rodney Harris is scheduled to present the request October 6.
The proposal would create four school case-manager positions and two student wellness intervention specialists and reclassify an existing administrator. The Health Department would oversee services in middle, high and alternative schools in the Iredell-Statesville and Mooresville Graded districts, plus other qualifying public schools.
Services would include screening, counseling, crisis intervention and recovery support. The proposed initial term is three years.
A draft resolution lists $802,620 for early intervention from October 6 through June 30, 2027; that is not the three-year total.
Commissioners meet at 6 p.m. October 6 at N.C. Cooperative Extension, 444 Bristol Drive, Statesville, following a 4 p.m. pre-agenda meeting.
