Investigation Into Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Felony, Misdemeanor Drug Charges

30-year-old Jason Edward Sweet of Taylorsville was arrested Saturday (April 13) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of methamphetamine along with misdemeanor counts of simple possession of schedule III controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sweet was taken into custody Saturday as part of an investigation into the report of a suspicious vehicle. According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, Sweet was previously charged with felony counts of breaking and entering and larceny.

Following Saturday’s arrest, Sweet was released under a secured bond of $10,000. He had a District Court date Monday (April 15). His next District Court appearance on the drug charges is scheduled for May 6. A Superior Court appearance on the previously filed break-in related charges is scheduled for June 3 in Taylorsville.
