According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, as of 12:20 this afternoon (November 2), Interstate-40 westbound at exit 118 in Burke County has been shut down due to a fatal collision. The N.C.D.O.T. has been contacted and is in the process of setting up a detour. No additional information has been released.
