Hudson Man Jailed for Assault on Officer

27-year-old Phillip Christopher Carlton of Beach Road in Hudson, who is also listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police last Friday night (March 10) on one felony count of assault on a law enforcement officer inflicting serious injury and one count of habitual misdemeanor assault. According to police reports, the suspect was arrested following an altercation with a 48-year-old male.

Carlton was taken into custody at about 9:45 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Family Store on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard S.E. in Hickory. According to the H.P.D. arrest report, he initially refused to be fingerprinted or photographed. Carlton was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $39,000, secured. He remained in jail as of this afternoon (March 16). A first appearance in District Court was scheduled this past Monday (March 13) with another court date coming up on April 3.
