41-year-old Sheldon Scott Wagner of Mission Road in Hudson was arrested last Friday (November 19) on charges filed in three counties. According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, he’s charged in Burke County with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony probation violation, and traffic offenses. In both Caldwell and Watauga Counties Wagner is charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. He’s also charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official in Watauga County.
Last Thursday (November 18), Foothills Airport of Morganton reported the larceny of a fuel truck to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Burke County detectives sent a photo and information to all surrounding counties and on Friday, Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. The truck’s driver, reported to be Sheldon Scott Wagner, allegedly led officers on a vehicle chase that ended on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Watauga County.
Wagner was taken into custody by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. According to the news release issued by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Wagner was under probation supervision leading to the probation violation charge. He was jailed in Watauga County under $60,000 secured bond. Wagner has District and Superior Court appearances in Burke County January 24. His Watauga County District Court date is December 6. A Caldwell County District Court date is set for November 29.
