44-year-old Edlyn Richard Johnson, Jr. of Optimist Avenue in Hudson was arrested by Hickory Police Sunday morning (July 2) on a pair of outstanding warrants for felony probation violations. The warrants were issued on June 29 in Lincoln County. Johnson is on probation as the result of a June 2023 conviction in Lincoln County on felony counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, financial card fraud, and larceny of a motor vehicle.

Johnson was taken into custody without incident at about 8 a.m. Sunday at a coffee shop on 2nd Street N.E. in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $15,000, secured. As of this afternoon (July 7), Johnson was listed as an inmate in Lincoln County where he is being held under the same bond amount. A District Court date is coming up Monday (July 10) in Lincolnton.
