HS Coach Wanted In Lincoln County Sex Offense Case Arrested In S.C.

30-year-old Maxwell Sidney Fletcher of Mount Holly was arrested Friday (May 17) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with multiple felony offenses in a case involving an alleged sexual assault. A news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says that the suspect is an East Lincoln High School Boy’s Soccer coach.

On May 15, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call concerning the sexual assault of a minor. Following the investigation, a detective charged Maxwell Sidney Fletcher with the felony offenses. The specific charges were not listed.

Fletcher was arrested in Gaffney, S.C. on May 17 and was being held in the Gaffney, S.C. Detention Center on a fugitive from justice warrant. The detective said the Lincoln County, NC Sheriff’s Office would begin the process of extraditing Fletcher back to North Carolina this week.

The investigation is ongoing and includes numerous different jurisdictions in North and South Carolina. Fletcher currently has pending felony warrants in Lincoln and Catawba Counties.
