According to a news release issued Friday (September 15), last Tuesday (September 12), at approximately 8:00 a.m., Morganton Public Safety firefighters responded to 851 Vine Arden Road to fight a house fire. The initial report was that a female made it out of the structure after waking up to her bedroom being on fire, and her whereabouts were unknown.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and found heavy smoke and fire inside the residence. They were able to quickly knock down the fire, and ensure no occupants were still inside. The homeowner was found outside with neighbors, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. She was cleared of any medical issues. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation was still ongoing to find the cause and origin of the fire. Investigators from Morganton Public Safety were working with the owner and fire crews to gather information to determine a cause and origin. One occupant has been displaced.
