Homeless Man Charged with Felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault

36-year-old Lance Jerome Pugh, who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police last Friday (July 28) for felony habitual misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor assault on a female by a male over 18 years of age. He also faces the same charges filed by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. Pugh had previously been arrested by Hickory Police on June 19 on a felony count of possession of methamphetamine.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident at about 9:30 a.m. Friday at a business address on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard S.E. in Hickory. Pugh was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he was initially held without bond. Bond has since been set at $5,001. He remained in jail as of this afternoon (August 2). A first appearance in District Court was scheduled this past Monday (July 31) in Newton. He has additional District Court dates set for August 7 on a simple assault charge, on August 21 on Friday’s charges, and on August 29 on the meth charge.
