Homeless Hickory Woman Charged with B&E and Property Damage

37-year-old Heather Ward Kanupp, who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police Sunday (November 19) on one felony count of breaking & entering and misdemeanor counts of injury to personal property and injury to real property. Kanupp was taken into custody at about 2:30 Sunday morning at a hotel on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard S.E. in Hickory. According to H.P.D.’s arrest report, the suspect was arrested after Officers were required to make forceful entry into a room at the hotel. The arrest report also states that Kanupp refused to answer most of the questions she was asked.

Following her arrest, Kanupp was confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility where she was initially held without bond. Bond has since been set at $5,000. She remained in jail as of this afternoon (November 21). A first appearance in District Court was scheduled yesterday in Newton with another court date coming up on December 11.
