Homeless Hickory Man Jailed on Felony Meth Charges

37-year-old Joshua Sean Riser, who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on two counts each of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with a single count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance. He was also charged with a felony probation violation. Riser is on probation as he serves a 30-month suspended sentence following convictions in Catawba County in June of 2022 and April of 2023 for possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Riser was jailed yesterday (January 10) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $10,000. He remained in jail as of this afternoon. An appearance in Superior Court was scheduled for January 16 in Newton.
