Home Heavily Damaged in Tuesday Morning Fire in Hickory

Hickory Firefighters responded to a residential fire this morning (December 15) on 10th Street Place N.W. in Hickory. Firefighters arrived at about 8 a.m. to find the single-family residence fully involved in smoke and flames. The fire was extinguished about 30-to-45 minutes later.

No injuries were reported; however, a spokesperson for the Fire Department says family members are attempting to confirm that an adult son who lives in the basement was not at home at the time of the fire.

As of 10:30 this morning, conditions were not sufficiently safe to allow investigators to enter the structure, which sustained heavy damages. No cause has been determined. The investigation remains active.
