Hildebran Man Faces Probation & Parole Violations
46-year-old Jason McKinley Powell of Highway 70 in Hildebran has been arrested by Probation & Parole Officers on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses and financial card theft. He was also charged with a parole violation and two felony probation violations. In addition, Powell was charged as an habitual felon.
In January of last year, Powell was convicted in Catawba County on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, larceny of a motor vehicle, and breaking & entering a motor vehicle. In October of last year, he was convicted in Lincoln County for possession of a controlled substance in a penal institution and obstructing justice. He was also convicted in Caldwell County in October 2022 on felony and misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen goods. He was released from custody on July 1 of this year.
Powell was jailed today (September 29) in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $65,001 bond. He’ll appear in Superior Court Monday (October 2) in Newton with another Superior Court date scheduled for October 30.
