Highway Patrol Investigates Fatal Crash Saturday in Lincoln County

At about 3:45 Saturday afternoon (August 22), the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision in Lincoln County on N.C. Highway 73 at Amity Church Road. The deceased is 61-year-old Joey Dean Harvey of Dallas, N.C.

The accident occurred when a 2002 Dodge pickup truck traveling south on Amity Church Road failed to stop at a stop sign while attempting a right turn onto N.C. 73. The truck collided with an eastbound 2005 Toyota van.

The driver of the Dodge, 25-year-old David Shawn Weber of Cornelius, was not injured. Mr. Harvey, who was driving the Toyota, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Two female passengers in the van were injured and were transported by Lincoln County E.M.S. to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

The Highway Patrol’s investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending.
