HICKORY, N.C. (WHKY) – The high school football season began Thursday night as several games were moved due to the threat of storms on Friday. Bandys and St. Stephens were plagued by lightning delays that pushed their game to end around 11:30pm. Bunker Hill and Freedom had their games called as finals after storms moved through the areas, and Hickory fell to South Point in a battle of top 5A titans.
