In the 2A boys golf championship, Bandys finished third after starting the day in fourth place. The Trojans shot a 28-over par team score on day one and a 31-over on the final round Tuesday to card a 59-over in the event. They were three shots out of second place Seaforth. East Surry won the event with an amazing 12-over par.
As a team, the Fred T. Foard Tigers jumped three spots on the leaderboard to finish third in the state 3A boys golf championship. The Tigers shot a team score 35-over par on the first day of the tournament but cut six strokes off in round two to finish at 64-over par. Foard’s David Gee, who led the individual leaderboard after the first day, didn’t shoot as well on day two. Gee shot an opening round 66, a 6-under par. However, he shot a two-over 74 in the second round, and was forced into a three way playoff for the individual title. The freshman fell shy, losing on the fourth playoff hole, finishing tied for second.
